INFORMATION: Available on draft and in bottles beginning May – August. Here’s what Victory has to say about the beer: “With the sublime, earthy familiarity of noble, American and German hops backed up by fresh and clean German malts, Summer Love Ale® ends with a surprising burst of lemony refreshment from fistfuls of American whole flower hops. Love Summer, now.”
APPEARANCE: Pours a pale lemon yellow color with a good 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Good clarity reveals a multitude of bubbles soaring up towards the top of the beer. Pretty decent retention, but the lacing is even better.
AROMA: Citrus, Toasted Grain, Lemongrass, and Dried Hay.
TASTE: Nice citrus bite up front followed by some grassy hop flavor. I’m getting some grainy flavors in there as well. Both the citrus and hops show up for a second go-round providing a refreshing lemony snap on the back-end. There’s some lingering bitterness on the finish.
MOUTHFEEL: Fairly light body with a moderate (and slightly fizzy) level of carbonation.
MOREY’S BOTTOM LINE: Without a doubt one of my favorite summer beers. Ultra-drinkable, yet full of flavor. At 5.2% it’s pretty session-friendly too. If I’m reviewing to style (which I am), I can’t imagine there being a much better Blonde Ale than this one right here. Victory has done for Blonde Ales what they did for Pilsners. Highly recommended!
